Mike Monks was licensed to practice law in Texas by the Supreme Court in 1982. Since then, he has secured over 2500 not guilty verdicts and dismissals. Mike works in Harris and surrounding counties, and in 2010 became a prosecutor in the City of Southside Place. Most recently, in 2020, he received the Veteran’s Court Service Award and an appointment to the Veteran’s Counsel for the Harris County Misdemeanor Veteran’s Court. Mike has served on the board of directors for the Harris County Criminal Lawyer’s Association and was elected the first president of the Harris County Municipal Justice Bar Association. He has worked on the bench/bar committee and the historical committee for the Houston Bar Association and has lectured at continuing legal education courses for the HBA and various legal organizations.
Mike is a native Houstonian. He graduated from the University of Houston with a business degree, magna cum laude, and from the University of Houston with a Juris Doctorate in 1982. He has been married to his wife, Mary, for over 38 years, and they have three children. He is very active in church and community activities.
