Mike Monks has practiced law for 38 years He is a native Houstonian. He graduated from the University of Houston College of Business, magna cum laude and from the University of Houston Law Center. He has tried hundreds of cases in Harris and surrounding counties and has secured over 2,500 not guilty verdicts or dismissals for his clients. He has served on the board of directors of the Harris County Criminal Lawyers Association He was the first president of the Harris County Municipal Justice Bar Associating. He has volunteered for several committees for the Houston Bar Association and has been a guest speaker at local and state continuing legal education programs. He was appointed to the staff for the Harris County Criminal Courts Veteran’s Court and is certified by Justice for Vets. He is a prosecutor for the municipal court in Southside Place. His proudest professional accomplishment is to successfully represent his clients who have placed their trust in him.
Pat Monks, J.D.
Gerald Patrick (Pat) Monks is a native Houstonian. Graduated from the University of Houston in 1981, BBA and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law in 1984. Licensed to practice law in Texas, and the Southern and Northern Federal District Court of Texas. In 1992, he became the regional provider for traffic defense for Prepaid legal for 20 counties in Texas. Today Pat represents more than 18 plans cross the country.
Pat was first elected to the American Prepaid Legal Services Institute in 2009 and became president of the API in 2014. He was elected to the Group Legal Services Association (GLSA) Board in 2017 and serves in that capacity again until 2021. He has been a guest panelist to International legal expense Insurers association Congress in Brussels, Belgium 2015, Dublin, Ireland 2017 and Berlin, Germany 2019.
Pat is a founding member of the Municipal Justice Bar Association of Texas in 1992. He is the Chief Administrator of the Traffic Lawyers of Texas Continuing Education Program for the Ste of Texas and is very active in the legislature. Pat has been involved in the Texas Legislature since 1987. He was involved in the repeal of the red -light camera program. He was also active in the removal of the driver’s license surcharge program that suspended almost 1 million license holders. This repeal allowed thousands of Texans to be eligible to reinstate their driver privileges in Texas.
Mr. Monks is active in politics and served from 2001 – 2017 on the executive committee of the Harris County Republican Party. He currently serves as an election judge in the Clear Lake area of Harris County, Texas. Pat is married with two grown children. He is active in local theater and has performed for 12 years in local community theater in the Clear Lake area for several theater companies.
